I was all set up to design some awesome shelves and such for my desk area, to better distribute my hardware and make for better wiring etc and have everything more organised and tidy. I started on the issue, as I mentioned before, and I’ve been busy beavering away in Sketchup and not really getting very far. See, my main problem is that I get caught up in the little details of what only needs to be a simple model. That and I feel i have to be deadly accurate on scale. I’ll measure any objects I’m modeling so that everything is as accurate as it can be. It’s one of those things that annoys me – people who submit models on the 3D Warehouse that are massively out of scale. I was being lazy and didn’t fancy modeling an Xbox360, PS3, or Wii, so I cheated and looked on the warehouse. Some of the models there are scaled the size of skyscrapers. I know it’s not -that- important, and it’s easy enough to scale them down, but it’s just annoying when it comes to adding them to a model.
Ah well, anyway, the plans for the room are simpler than I was initially thinking, but they work. What I ended up figuring is that having shelves either side of the TV and monitors etc would somewhat drown them in wood, so to speak. Plus the logistics of it just wouldn’t work. So I’ve settled for a single shelving unit in the corner for housing most things. I’ll be able to manage cabling a little more effectively this way too. Let’s see -
Yeah, that looks a lot better. :D
Good lord this post was boring…
